Why “Goat Song Records”?

Before YouTube or Netflix, before CDs or vinyl, before comedy clubs, spotlights, or even theater itself…there were goat songs.

In ancient Greece, people would adorn themselves in goat skins to mimic satyrs, and devote their impudent, often raunchy monologues to the revelrous wine god Dionysus at festivals in his honor. Competitions were held for the best and funniest, birthing the dramatic arts in the Western world– and our foremost comedians today honor this audacious legacy.

The Spotify channel will feature label-agnostic playlists from the best comedy albums presented in themes- Sex, Politics, Religion, Dark Humor, etc. The first one is a collection of comedians on the subject of music and bands. There is a private playlist available to subscribers of our mailing list that features only the newest and best tracks from contemporary comics- nothing released more than two years ago.
